Grandma Elsie's Recipe

1 cup sugar
4 tblsp. molasses
2 tblsp. boiling water
1/2 cup butter
Stir ingredients together in a pan.
Cook without stirring to hard crack stage.
When syrup is dropped in cold water it cracks between fingers.
Turn into a large buttered pan to make a thin layer.
When partly cool mark in squares. When cold break into pieces.
Optional; Add nuts and turn it into peanut brittle.
