My Kitchen Window

by Andrea L. Johnson

When I ponder God's great gifts
With which my life is blessed,
I count my kitchen window
As perhaps one of the best.
I watched my children play and grow
While I scrubbed pots and pans.
I smelled spring rains and autumn leaves
And dreamed of future plans.
There aren't as many dishes now;
My little ones are grown
But loooking out my window
I'm reminded once again,
God gives us ways of seeing things
We otherwise might miss,
Like kitchen windows bidding us
"Slow down and look at this."
